How is the onu deployed?

In general, ONU devices can be classified according to various application scenarios, such as SFU, HGU, SBU, MDU, and MTU.

1. SFU ONU deployment

The advantage of this deployment mode is that the network resources are relatively rich, and it is suitable for independent households in FTTH scenarios. It can ensure that the client has the broadband access function, but does not involve complex home gateway functions. In this environment, the SFU has two common modes: both Ethernet interfaces and POTS interfaces. Only Ethernet interfaces are provided. It should be noted that in both forms, SFU can provide coaxial cable functions to facilitate the realization of CATV services, and can also be used with a home gateway to facilitate the provision of value-added services. This scenario also applies to enterprises that do not need to exchange TDM data.

2. HGU ONU deployment

The HGU ONU terminal deployment strategy is similar to the SFU, except that the ONU and RG functions are hardware integrated. Compared with SFU, it can realize more complex control and management functions. In this deployment scenario, U-shaped interfaces are built into physical devices and do not provide interfaces. If xDSLRG devices are required, multiple types of interfaces can be directly connected to the home network, which is equivalent to a home gateway with EPON uplink interfaces, and mainly applies to FTTH applications.

3. SBU ONU deployment

This deployment solution is more suitable for independent enterprise users to build networks in FTTO application mode, and is based on enterprise changes in SFU and HGU deployment scenarios. In this deployment environment, the network supports the broadband access terminal function and provides users with various data interfaces, including El interfaces, Ethernet interfaces, and POTS interfaces, meeting enterprise requirements for data communication, voice communication, and TDM dedicated lines. The U-shaped interface in the environment can provide enterprises with a variety of attributes of the frame structure, which is more powerful.

4. MDU ONU deployment

The deployment solution applies to multi-user network construction in FTTC, FTTN, FTTCab, and FTTZ modes. If enterprise users do not have requirements for TDM services, this solution can also be used to deploy EPON networks. This deployment solution can provide broadband data communication services for multiple users, including Ethernet /IP services, VoIP services, and CATV services, and has powerful data transmission capabilities. Each communication port can correspond to a network user, so its network utilization is higher.

5. MTU ONU deployment

The MDU deployment solution is a commercial change based on the MDU deployment solution. It provides multiple interface services, including Ethernet interfaces and POTS interfaces, to multiple enterprise users, meeting various service requirements such as voice, data, and TDM dedicated lines. When combined with slot implementation structure, more rich and powerful business functions can be realized.
